What are IDACs?
NEXTDC issues Identity and Access Cards (IDACs) that enable access in data centres. IDACs combine a photo identity card and an electronic access card to manage:
- Building access control, and
- Rack access control,
To obtain an IDAC, you must read the Facility Rules and complete a site induction before being issued with an IDAC when you are positively identified onsite using government issued forms of identification.
A single IDAC can provide access to multiple NEXTDC facilities with all NEXTDC facilities operating on a standardised system. NEXTDC issues the initial IDAC to a user for a specific facility. NEXTDC adds additional access for other facilities to the IDAC after users complete the facility-specific induction.
IDACS can be:
- Permanent IDACS – that are personalised to an individual and the IDAC remains valid until decommissioned
- Temporary IDACS – where the user has not requested a permanent IDAC. Temporary IDACs are issued to the individual for the time they are on-site.
NEXTDC provides an initial allocation of complementary IDACs for each customer. Additional IDACs are available at a small monthly charge which is shown ONEDC when you request an IDAC.
NEXTDC offers the following types of IDACs:

For example, if an individual with a contractor IDAC requests a 3-day window to attend a NEXTDC facility, NEXTDC will issue a temporary contractor IDAC on the first day. The contractor returns the IDAC each day when exiting the facility. NEXTDC issues a separate IDAC each day when the contractor re-enters the facility.
