Remotely unlocking racks

ONEDC enables appropriately authorised users to remotely unlock the doors on a rack.
NEXTDC has multiple options for unlocking racks outside of remote locking:

  • Customers with appropriate IDAC permissions can unlock their own racks by swiping on the card reader at the end of the rack pod.
  • Customers without appropriate permissions can submit a Contractor Access request via ONEDC for NEXTDC staff to unlock racks for contractors.
  • You can also submit a Remote Hands request in advance for NEXTDC staff to unlock the rack.

To request a rack unlock:

  1. In the Main Menu select Services » Colocation.
  2. Search and locate the rack.
  3. Select the lock action:

    Action

    Click

    Unlock front door

    Unlock Front

    Unlock back door

    Unlock Back

  4. ONEDC unlocks the rack.

IMPORTANT! After receiving the unlock request, there is a 30 second period to physically unlock the rack by pressing down on the top of the rack lock. If you exceed this period, the lock automatically re-locks.

If a user has physically pressed the rack lock to unlock it, there is no remote command to request a rack re-lock. To re-lock an unlocked rack they user present must physically press down on the top of the rack lock.
