Connectivity Options at NEXTDC

NEXTDC offers connectivity to the NEXTDC ecosystem via Structured Cabling (SC) and Cross Connects (CCs), and between data centre facilities in the same city via Data Centre Interconnects (DCIs):

Description

Structured Cabling (SC)

Essential infrastructure installed between a customer rack and distribution points, enabling connectivity and future cross connects.

Types:

  • Single Mode Optical Fibre (SMoF) with 12 pre-terminated cores (6 pairs)
  • Category 6 copper cabling with 6 pre-terminated cables installed on a RJ-45 Patch Panel

Cross Connect (CC)

Physical cable running directly from one server to another.
CCs are maintained by a single data centre or across multiple data centres and can be used for many purposes.

NOTE: CCs also include Data Centre Interconnects (DCIs) to connect between NEXTDC sites in the same city.

Types:

Fibre (Offered at all sites):

  • Single mode optical fibre (Single Core)
  • Single mode optical fibre (Dual core)

Copper (Only offered at some Gen. 1 sites within the same data hall)

  • Cat 6
  • Cat 3

IMPORTANT:
For services to be provisioned within these timeframes, the:

  • A and B end must have adequate available capacity (i.e. free spare ports)
  • Port details provided must be accurate and available for use
